A Brief
Club
History
Alanon of Glendale, Inc. was incorporated in October,
1953.
Originally located on Central Avenue, the Club
rapidly became a home away from home for many of Glendales
recovering alcoholics.
In
1969 the Club moved to 225 North Maryland Avenue.
In 1975, it became
evident that the Clubs growth had again surpassed the size of
its facilities, and a search began for new space.
The members authorized the
purchase of land, and the engagement of an architect to design
facilities to suit the special needs of the Club.
The land at our
present location at
123 W. Windsor Road was obtained, plans were
completed, and construction commenced in 1976.
The Grand Opening of our New
Club was January 19, 1978.
Organization
Structure
In keeping with
the traditions of Alcoholics
Anonymous , which prohibits the ownership of property,
Alanon of Glendale, Inc. owns the land, building, equipment,
and furnishings.
Collectively the members
and the facilities constitute the Windsor Club.
The operation of the Club is by the 14 member Board of
Directors, elected by the members for two-year terms.
